Ahead of PDP September Governorship primaries in kogi state,former governor of the state,Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has lend his weight, on the need for a transparent exercise that the outcome will be acceptable to all contestants
Idris in a statement in Abuja said, if fairly play and credible exercise is carried out at the party’s primaries,that will be the only way to guarantee the success of the party in the November 16 gubernatorial election in Kogi
According to the former governor,his son,and frontline kogi governorship aspirant for November election, Abubakar Ibrahim will abide by the outcome or the primaries or concede defeat, if at all
Idris warned PDP on the consequences and plans to balkanise the party through the process of primaries to favour a particular candidate,saying that decision if taken,may be disastrous and also mar the great opportunity of the party,salvaging the state from the hands of schylock leaders
Former Governor Ibrahim Idris assured the party of the readiness of his son,to conduct himself inline with the provision of the constitution of the party,saying efforts will be geared materially to support the next primaries
He urged the PDP to demonstrate its political acceptability and neutrality by the generalty of Nigerians, that is expected to provide alternative leadership to the people of Nigerians and kogi state in particular, at this critical point in time
Idris stressed the need for the party echelon to imbibe the spirit of steadfastness and sportsmanship,rather than take side with a particular candidate, that will lead to the emergence of an unpopular Governorship candidate instead level playing ground should be provided for all to test his or her popularity.
The former governor said the desire of the people of the state is for the PDP as a party, to provide succour and good governance to the good people of the state,so as to put a stop to glaring decadence of government business, orchestrated by the APC led administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello by November
He expressed confidence in the leadership of the party, with a view to providing a level playing ground for a seamless contest due for September this year
The former governor assured the people of the state,that as a leader he is ready to work tirelessly for whoever delegates chose as the next party flag bearer in the state.
