Kogi PDP: Prepared for a Smooth State Congress Today

The Congress Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has assured party members and the public of a hitch-free state congress scheduled for today. All necessary arrangements have been finalized to ensure a free and fair congress, with all legal and constitutional requirements met.

In a statement released by Comrade Usman Okai Austin, the Chairman of the Kogi State PDP Congress Committee, the party expressed confidence that the congress will lead to the establishment of a new state working committee. This committee is expected to revitalize party activities and strengthen its position as a formidable opposition in the state as the 2027 general elections approach.

Addressing rumors regarding legal challenges, Okai clarified that there are no court summons or orders against the congress, describing such claims as mere political gossip. He acknowledged that discontent often arises during contentious electoral activities, particularly from those dissatisfied with the outcomes.

The committee emphasized that the three-man ad-hoc delegates’ process has been successfully completed, and an appeals committee has been set up and inaugurated. This process has received approval from the National Working Committee of the PDP in Abuja, which has addressed any complaints that arose from the ad-hoc congress.

The party has urged delegates and members to adhere to the established rules and regulations, assuring them that adequate security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of delegates traveling from all 21 local government areas in the state.

As the congress approaches, the PDP wishes all delegates and members a safe journey and reaffirms its commitment to representing the interests of the masses after the convention. The party also dismissed any speculation regarding the possibility of another congress, labeling such notions as wishful thinking.
