All may not be well with the All progressives Congress gubernatorial campaign council and her candidate ,His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in the forthcoming election in Kogi State.
Recall that a meeting of all socio-cultural groups in Ebiraland was held in lokoja yesterday where salient issues as regards the coming election were discussed and addressed. The meeting was well attended by nearly all the big wigs from Ebiraland including His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who left mid-way to proceed to Isanlu for campaign activities.
An attendant of the meeting who pleaded to remain anonymous said that Mr Tom Ohikere was tongue-lashed for inciting ethnic agenda and distrust.
“As you can see, the meeting was well attended by our leaders and elites alike. We must tell our self the truth at all times, Adayi Ohikere messed up by trying to pit us (Ebira) against our brothers in Igala land and he was duly scolded for such unguided utterances. Ohikere has become a loose cannon trying so hard to impress GYB” our source noted.
Further enquiries into the outcome of the meeting revealed that, Ebira leaders are worried about the campaign techniques deployed by the governor as it will cause more harm than good in the nearest future.
A Prominent scholar from Ebiraland equally rebuked the governor for not cautioning his foot soldiers who have deployed suppression, intimidation and ethnic division as campaign tools to seek re-election in the forth coming election.
“It is unheard of at this material time to tell people to remain in their houses if they won’t vote APC, this kind of campaign is not only archaic but also barbaric and undemocratic” the scholar asserted.
Recall that, since the campaigns started, statements promoting ethnic agenda and division has been credited to most of the governor’s allies, Chief amongst them are Dr Tom Ohikere and the honorable commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere.
In view of the above, GYB, haven realized that his defeat at the poll is imminent, has concluded arrangements to import thugs from neighboring Niger-Delta state of Edo and indigents thugs from kabawa and Okene (his home town) to intimidate and frustrate election processes especially in kogi West.
“As it stands, the only way out for GYB is to rig election and write results. Anything short of these will amount to outright failure at the poll” another source revealed.
Our source revealed that the apex Ebira socio-cultural group, Ebira Peoples Association (EPA) are considering constituting a high powered delegation to interface with the Igalas to sue for peace ahead of the coming election.
