Got 3 Million Each Out Of 37 Million Constituency Project Fund
Top political office holders in Kogi state are to forfeit 25% of their monthly salaries, as part of their contributions to the re-election bid of Kogi governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello
At the same time,25 members of Kogi state House of Assembly elected to office in February, will forfeit their constituency project funds of 37 million naira annually, also as a sacrifice to the return of kogi governor,Alhaji Yahaya Bello
The state lawmakers were availed 3 million naira each and asked to sign off as Constituency project funds for the year 2019,as against the yearly face value
The former lawmakers also lost their project funds for 2018,because of the refusal of the governor to pay off the entitlements meant to develop their various constituencies
Twice in two years, Constituency projects was stalled by the ill decision of the state government over the blank refusal to release the funds
The decision was reached by the state government, insisting that political office holders from Special Assistants,Senior Special Assistants and Special Advisers as well as top government functionaries will forfeit their entitlements in percentage, to ensure the re-election of the governor later in the year
The earlier decision was to forfeit one month salary across board, but after a long plea,it was agreed and coordinated by Kogi Chief of Staff to resolve on percentage deductions
Kogi state government salary payment had been irregular since the inception of this administration, with top political office holders and state lawmakers staying for upward of six months with out salaries and allowances
Payment was made from the Bail out funds received from the federal government and deductions was made upfront
Piqued by the present development, lawmakers from Kogi state are meeting separately in a location in Abuja, to strategize on how to counter the action of the state government, against the Constituency project funds of the lawmakers
