Build up to Tuesday People’s Democratic Party(PDP),primary election in kogi,slated for September 3rd to pick the flagbearer of the party for the November governorship election in the state,opinion poll,delegates assessment and other parameters had given Capt Idris Wada a major edge against other contenders
This is occasioned by the desire of the delegates and major stakeholders who ordinarily were supposed to be wooed by Capt Idris Wada, have now resolved to plead with the former governor to return to the leadership of the state to complete his statutory eight years in office, in addition to the last four years constitutionally provided
Capt Idris Wada in addition to having pulled huge string in the delegates election held weeks back,have been tipped to be the alternative to the satanic government of Yahaya Bello, and has the political clout to beat the incumbent governor at the polls
Observation from conventional political class spread across the three senatorial districts in Kogi state had concluded the grand arrangement preference to Capt Idris Wada’s candidacy for the November election, based on integrity,track records of achievement,popularity and command as well as control of the party structure and delegates across the state
Antecedents and precedents of Capt Idris Wada as the immediate past governor of the state, as well as the glaring and non sectional achievement carried out was a rallying point to return the former governor to the leadership of the state
Ability to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi state, to mitigate the pains and anguish carried out during the period of the present inhuman administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello particularly in human and infrastructural development of the state
The position of the top echelon of the party at the state level is to avoid stooge like, type of administration as witnessed during the 9 years administration of Ibrahim Idris, as well as the first term of Governor Wada under the guise of political godfatherism,now out of vogue in the current dispensation
Former Governor Wada is tested and trusted in his quest to pilot both the private and public office, having made alot of achievement in his career and administration of Kogi state amidst tight operational environment during his first term
The delegates and the people abhorred the general notion and stigma of third term agenda powered by former governor Ibrahim Idris, to impose his son on the people of the state, through political dynasty and institutionalization of such trend in the state
The stigma of family continuity through a son that has no experience of public office,but will learn through the office is no longer acceptable to the state,coming from an administration that have live much to be desired in a four year term.
One the whole,Capt Idris Wada is more popular among all the contenders and has the political will to take kogi state to its height of political development in all ramifications
With these development,it behoves on all and sundry to join hands and support the seamless emergence of Capt Idris Wada in the next week primary slated for September 3.
