Kogi Guber: DSS begins vetting of APC aspirants ahead of Saturday Primary in Kogi, Beams searchlight on terrorism sponsors, corrupt persons, economic saboteurs.

As the All Progressives Congress APC begins political process to usher in a new Governor in the state, the Department of State Service has begun discreet vetting of All Progressives Congress Aspirants in order to fish out those who have ‘some baggage’.

The profiling and vetting of political aspirants, according to a DSS official, is to enable the service fish out criminal elements who should not be entrusted with sensitive office of the governor in the state and guide relevant agencies, parties and institutions appropriately.

“The vetting is a continuous exercise and a core function of our mandate to determine if anyone who is seeking to occupy any office is fit and proper to do so in order to prevent criminally-minded elements from being saddle with sensitive government apparatus and institutions,” a DSS official explained.

Under the arrangement, which is said to have begun in earnest, the security agency is to beam its searchlight on those who have criminal records bordering on economic sabotage, corruption, terrorism financing and separatist agitation among others.

 

The aspirants are a member of National Working Committee, Murtala Yakubu  Ajaka; a former Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris, a former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdulsalami Deedat Ozigi, Ahmed Usman Ododo and Yakubu Yusuf Okala.

Others were Murktar Bello, A Jimoh, former Director General Rural Electrification Agency,  Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, former Minister of State Labour, Professor Stephen Ocheni, Hajia Halima Kabiru Gaya, Muhammed Jibrin, Shuiabu Audu and Friday Idachaba.

The same people cleared by the APC NWC now being subjected to DSS screening and people wonder why this screening is only limited to APC analyst observed
