President Mohammed Buhari has been called upon to dissuade himself from nursing any intention to give support to the second term ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
Spokesman of an interest group of All progressive party (APC) under the eaiges of “kogi for men of integrity”, Comrade AbdulRahmaan Abubakar made this call in a statement he issued to the Pressmen in Lokoja at the weekend
Comrade Abubakar said the call had become necessary in view of the desperate moves Governor Bello had embarked on in recent times to snitch APC ticket for his second term in office.
He described as shameful and thoughtless, “Bello’s childish- make -belief -display” expressed in his gaudy rush to Aso Rock to hand in his expression of intent form to Mr. President.
Abubakar taunted Bello for ruling his mind with self deception by believing that Buhari’s endorsement of his intent to run for the governorship was tantamount to securing his second term in office.
Part of the statement read :”We are not ignorant of the undercurrent implication of this action, but it has to be emphasized that Kogi people will resist any attempt to impose elongation of suffering and cruelty on them this time around”, he warned.
He wondered why Mr President who talks glowingly about fearing God and who is said to possess high profile integrity would accept to throw “his weight behind a figure that personifies cruelty, corruption” and hides no effort to let the world know him as such.
He asked if Buhari had not heard of the destruction and havoc his “boy” had been causing in Kogi State since the judiciary “imposed” him on the state over three and half years ago.
He called on Mr. President to remove his hands from the processes of electing the flagbearer of APC for Kogi State governorship election on grounds of morality and justice which is what Allah that he worships five times a day stands for.
He urged Buhari to note the recklessness of Governor Bello in dousing public fund on assembled loyalists to purchase governorship nomination forms to even the number of aspirants that rose against the illicit decision of the NWC of APC to conduct indirect primary election in Kogi State despite the factions in the state APC.
Comrade Abubakar enjoined the President to keep his distance from such a governor that is a smear on his administration’s integrity posture and save Kogi from further oppression and looting.
