The governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress APC in Kogi State, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin Rtd has promised that if elected, he would run government with a good heart to build legacies that future generations will be proud of. At an interactive session with some selected youths leaders from Kogi yesterday in Abuja, Jibrin said his administration would make the people of Kogi to feel real sense of belonging by ensuring that state resources are distributed fairly and infrastructures are provided across the different parts to boost economic activities and enhance the social life of the residents.
“The APC has a responsibility and plan to develop all nooks and crannies of Kogi State. No part will be neglected or feel neglected. The APC administration will make its impact felt across the state and unite the people to collectively develop Kogi” Admiral Usman Jibrin the former Naval Secretary and immediate past Chief of Naval Staff decried the state of infrastructure in Kogi state , and said if elected, his administration would quickly move to execute a transformation agenda in the education and health sectors, empower women and youths, create jobs and rehabilitate the bad rural roads including Lokoja township roads. On what his administration plans to achieve in the first two years in office, he said: “We hope to make remarkable impact in the education sector which is crucial to human capital development required to transform our state.
Kogi is now number 15 in 2018 WAEC ranking of 36th states, it is very sad, it indicates backwardness. We need to build confidence and encourage the teachers. There will be an education summit to look at the curriculum. There is need for a special and efficient unit to manage the schools and timely payment of Teachers salary, “Look at the Teachers quarters in various Government secondary schools in Kogi state not suitable for resident of any man or woman impacting knowledge, look at the hostels in our secondary schools not fit to be occupied by any student and at the end we end up producing half baked graduates due to poor foundation,in Anambra state pupils patronise public schools now because of the good work done by the government of the state” the former Naval boss affirmed that Kogi state can do better. “In the health sector, we observed that a lot of facilities have been locked up. Not many of them are functional, many are operating below capacity. We need to ensure that these facilities optimally provide their services to better the lot of our people.
The problems in other sectors will be fixed so that our people can really enjoy the dividends of democracy,” Usman Jibrin said. On the chances of his party winning the governorship election in the state he said the assurances were very good from the way and manner the people of kogi state welcome his entrances into the race “the exchange zone is a time and distance sensitive area. Once you enter this zone you have a certain amount of time to make a clean hand-off.
