She reflected on past elections marred by violence orchestrated by the Yahaya Bello administration, citing instances such as the burning of a PDP woman leader in her house and the harrowing shooting of the PDP Governorship candidate’s nephew on Election Day. She further lamented how innocent citizens were targeted by bullets raining down from helicopters.
Highlighting the unique strengths of Dino Melaye, Barrister Omoyemi declared that his rise to prominence came from a track record of effective representation in various legislative positions, both in the federal house of representatives and the Senate of the federal republic of Nigeria. She underlined that while the APC candidate had emerged with the support of Yahaya Bello, Kogi citizens only knew him as the originator of the “percentage salary” policy.
Responding to members of the PDP who had defected to the APC, Barrister Omoyemi emphasized that Dino Melaye’s acceptability transcended party lines, asserting that the majority of his supporters were not PDP members.
