Kogi Guber 2023: Media organizations writes CCB, investigates Kogi APC candidate, Ododo

A Media outfit, CAPITAL POST PUBLISHING COMPANY LIMITED, publishers of CAPITAL POST Online has commenced investigation of therne All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate, Ododo Ahmed Usman who was the former Auditor-General for Local Government Areas in Kogi State.

In a letter dated 11th October, 2023, addressed to the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB which was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Online platform, Atekojo Usman, the agency of government was asked to unveil the former Auditor General’s assets and liability forms upon his entry and exit from the public service as required by law.

Ododo was appointed Auditor General for Local Government in 2016 by Governor Yahaya Bello and had served till the time he resigned to contest governorship election.

The request was coming amid concerns that Kogi State government operates LG joint account which has led to the total collapse of the LG system in the past seven years.

Citing relevant sections of the CCB Act, the 1999 Constitution as amended and the Freedom of Information Act, the Media House urged the CCB to expeditiously treat the request within the ambit of their own laws.

Part of the letter reads:

“For the purpose of media investigation, we request from hyour good office, a copy of asset and liability declaration from of Mr. Ododo Usman Ahmed, the candidate of the All Progressives, APC for November 11, 2023 Governorship Election in Kogi State.
“The subject matter is the immediate past Auditor General for Local Government Council in Kogi Satte.

He served in that capacity from 2016 to 2023 when resigned to contest governorship electin of Kogi State.
“This request is in reference to Part 1, Section 15, Bureau Act of second schedule (1) of the Code of Conduct Act, 1991 as amended and the Freedom of Information Act, Section 1, Subsection 1.”
