Ahead of the November governorship election in Kogi state, no less than 20,000 members of Ebira and Igala groups in Taraba state endorsed the candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.
The two ethnic groups made this known at a press briefing in Jalingo on Sunday.
The leader of the Ebira Ethnic group, Alhaji Yahaya Salawudeen, said the Ebira tribe in Taraba decided to support Ajaka because he remains the only most formidable candidate with sincere leadership acumen to deliver on his electoral promises.
“To be honest, if you monitor Ajaka’s campaign trail, you will see it clearly that he is the only candidate that cuts across the various socio political strata of the state,” he said.
Also, Ben Adaji, the leader of the Igala Youth Development Association in Taraba state, said Ajaka believes that a leader must be committed to delivering the promises of democracy.
Adaji, who is a chieftain of the Social Democratic Party, maintained that SDP candidate for November 11th governorship election in Kogi state has consistently assured Kogites that his vision in politics is to create substantial state that thrives on equality, equity and sustainable development for the benefit of all.
The groups lamented that the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has for the past eight years brought untold hardship to the entire state.
