Recently, the Nigeria electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the final list of candidates for the November 11th governorship election in Kogi State.
The list timely got to the desk of Fancy Media Team (FMT) and the entire members as well as the leadership erupted in jubilation after making an objective assessment of the real contender (Ododo) and the pretenders that dominate the list.
We make bold to say that our forensic expert, Accountant per excellence, and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman who is now fondly called “The Flower Boy of The Confluence” stands out amongst the ‘multitude’ on the list.
Beyond the sterling academic qualifications over which Alhaji Ododo has a comparative advantage, thereby pushing other pretenders to diminishing point of irrelevance, the APC candidate possesses rare innate leadership qualities as his Unique Selling Points (USP).

(1) Penetrable Consultation Acumen/Reconciliatory Moves: As a Democrat, Alhaji Ododo knows he needs people to govern the state and did not spare any opportunity to meet with them, irrespective of their ethnic or political leaning. He is the only candidate that has comprehensively toured the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State, consulting stakeholders and monarchs ahead of the official commencement of official campaign activities.
In each instance, he briefed his hosts of his plans for the state while some aggrieved members of his party and beyond are pacified. In a democracy, a clash of interests is bound to exist, but it takes a genuine leader to mend fences for a greater future. That is why in recent times, the ranks of Kogi APC is swelling in membership as members of other parties who have now seen the light and future in what the party portends seek refuge in it. Did I hear you say victory is in sight? Indeed, it is because of Ododo’s deft political approach.
(2) Too Focused to be Distracted: His eyes have been on the ball all along and he is not ready to waver by the attempts of distractions from his opponents. He does not have time to respond to name-callings, unfounded stories, and pure mendacity from the opposition. He works silently and results are glaringly in the open. Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman does not believe in mindless grandstanding and media showmanship.
He has instructed his teeming supporters to remain calm even in the face of palpable provocations. He behaves like the proverbial palm oil vendor who abhors frenzy engagements with habitual troublemakers to prevent his oil from being spilled! Take it or leave it, Alhaji Ododo is not garrulous or lousy. He is meek, calm, calculative and highly focused on the task ahead of him. Fortunately, these traits are winning more supporters for him.
(3) Exhibition of True Cosmopolitan Spirit: Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman’s cosmopolitan spirit is very glaring judging from the composition of members of his team that toured the state during consultations. Unlike some opposition that are promoting sectional or ethnic agenda, Alhaji Ododo is surrounded by people from Okun, Igala, Bassa, Ebira, Nupe, and others too numerous to mention to reflect the diversity of Kogi State. These people are convinced that having been mentored by the detribalized Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello; Alhaji Ododo will bring all sections of the society together when he assumes office on 27th of January, 2024 through the grace of God.
Alhaji Ododo is the only candidate whose selling point is devoid of ethnic colouration. This is indeed unique!
(4) Excellent Display of Political Maturity/Dexterity: Yes, Alhaji Ododo is politically matured. If not a rare display of deft political maturity, what would have made him visit unrepentant tribal champions and PDP apologists? While Ododo took his consultations beyond tribal and political boundaries, those bereft of political calculations and ideas are busy dissipating efforts in stoking embers of disunity. He is never a fan or promoter of politics of bitterness. Alhaji Ododo’s visitations depict that aside from politics, in brotherhood he stands in the quest for the development of Kogi State. With that singular act, many hearts were won for the All Progressives Congress which will make the impending victory less stressful.
(5) He is Youthful and Useful: Alhaji Ododo is not only youthful, but he is also useful. He has been tested with responsibilities since the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello and never for once has he disappointed.
The large demography of Kogi youths is rooting for him. He is simply the youths’ ambassador. He has always assured his teeming supporters that he would never act contrary to the appropriate recognition accorded to the youths by the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
As campaign activities officially commence in a few days, Fancy Media Team likes to aver that Kogi State is once again on the verge of making history with the Ododo/Oyibo joint ticket.
