Former Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi, has pledged his properties to assist detained former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in securing bail. Adeyemi has put forth this effort in anticipation of a court decision on Bello’s bail application on December 10th.
According to the source close to Kogi state government house source, Adeyemi’s properties in Abuja are currently being assessed, despite reports that there may be lingering tensions between Bello and Adeyemi. Some skeptics believe this gesture may be insincere, as Adeyemi is rumored to be vying for a return to the Senate and is seeking favor with Bello.
Yahaya Bello was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja, contrary to claims of voluntary surrender. He is currently in custody at the EFCC’s headquarters, where he is undergoing interrogation.
Recent reports suggest that the EFCC has filed new charges against Bello totaling N110 billion, in addition to previous charges for money laundering offenses. Bello and several others are implicated in financial misconduct amounting to N80,246,470,088.88.
