Kogi East Youths Warned of State-Sponsored Mischief

The Kogi East Elders’ Council (KEEC) has exposed a sinister plot by the Kogi State administration to discredit the Kogi East senatorial district. According to a statement signed by Ambassador Ali Ocheni, Director of Communications, KEEC, the administration plans to use fake protesters bearing Igala/Bassa names and carrying placards with Igala and Bassa inscriptions to protest in Lokoja on August 1, 2024, and attribute their actions to Kogi East youths.

The aim of this plot is to cast Kogi East in a bad light, making it seem unworthy of producing a governor, ahead of the Supreme Court ruling on the November 11, 2023, governorship election. However, KEEC has urged Kogi East youths to stay away from protests in Lokoja and Kogi State on August 1-10, be vigilant and security conscious, and protect their lives and properties.

KEEC has also called on security agencies in Kogi State to investigate this report immediately and bring the perpetrators to book. The council stands with the people of Kogi East and will not let malicious schemes succeed.
