The PDP in Kogi East has a rich history dating back to the early 2000s when the party was formed. Over the years, the party has experienced ups and downs, including periods of internal strife and external challenges. However, under the leadership of Hon. Igagwu, the party is poised for a resurgence.

In 2019, the PDP in Kogi East suffered a setback when the party lost the gubernatorial election to the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, the party has since regrouped and repositioned itself for future victories.

The recent inspection of the party office in Idah is part of the party’s efforts to reinvigorate its grassroots presence and mobilize support for the forthcoming elections. Hon. Igagwu, who was accompanied by the Financial Secretary, Hon. Paul Ukwenya, and other top party officials, expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far.

“We are committed to rebuilding our party from the grassroots up,” Igagwu said. “We have the political will to uplift our great party PDP from the stage we met it within a short period from now.”

The event was attended by the entire Idah local government party executive and ward chairmen, who pledged their support for the party’s efforts to regain power in Kogi State.

Igagwu also appealed to former party members who left during the last general and gubernatorial elections to return, promising equal opportunities for all. He encouraged those who contested in the recent state congress but did not secure their desired positions to consider future opportunities, emphasizing that only one person can win per time.

As the PDP in Kogi East looks to the future, Hon. Igagwu remains optimistic about the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections. With a strong grassroots presence and a united party, the PDP is poised to regain its dominance in Kogi East.
