Your Excellency, we are here today to first of all, commend the effort of the squadron team which is ably led by the Deputy Governor of and the state commissioner for health. As a committee we must admit the fact that this team has done so well in handling and management issues surrounding COVID-19 in Kogi State.

We are all aware of the threats and dangers this pandemic has pose on the global community and in Nigeria. Businesses shut down, academic institutions and religious houses have been brought.

The House Committee on COVID-19 was specially constituted by the House to liaise with Kogi State Government, Kogi State Squadron Committee on COVID-19 and other relevant health bodies in the fight against outbreak of COVID -19 in Kogi State.

The Committee finds it expedient to kick started this all important assignment with an interactive section with you and indeed your proactive squadron Committee.

The committee is not unaware of the achievements the State Government has recorded through the Squadron Committee since the outbreak of the deadly COVID -19 in Nigeria.

While we assure you of our availability and utmost support, be rest assured that if we all pull together and recognize that this is the time to put health first above all other considerations, we can overcome this difficult and challenging moment.

I wish to salute all those brave and selfless health-care workers and security personnel in the State who are on the front line, seeking to prevent the importation of the deadly disease into Kogi State.

The Committee is also aware of the procurement of the 5,000 testing kits and establishment of isolation centres by the State Government which has enable the state to test 111 residents for COVID-19. We are also learnt that the 111 results turned out negative. This shows that Kogi State is safe under the watch of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.

Finally, the Committee wishes to know other successes and challenges the Committee face in the cause of carrying out this assignment.

On behalf of the committee, I say Stay Save and thank you.
