Kogi Congress: PDP Clarifies Election Guidelines, Dismisses Kogi State CTC’s Actions

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its constitutionally mandated guidelines for conducting elections within the party. The National Executive Committee (NEC) has approved regulations and guidelines for elections at all levels, from ward to national convention.

According to Alhaji Ibrahim Dansofo, spokesperson for the PDP Elders Council, and made available to newsmen in Lokoja he said the party’s constitution, the NEC has the sole authority to make electoral regulations. The actual conduct of elections is entrusted to Congress committees at each level, appointed by the National Working Committee (NWC).

The PDP has dismissed the Kogi State Congress Committee’s (CTC) attempts to suspend, conduct, and reconduct elections, stating that such actions are null and void. The party’s NWC is the only organ responsible for conducting elections into party offices.

A recent press conference by Mr. Dayo Akande was deemed misleading and an attempt to hijack the process. The PDP urges its members to disregard the press release and respect the constitutionally mandated guidelines.
