In a significant development, LH Telecommunication Limited has acquired a 95.5% stake in 9mobile, marking a change in control of the company. The acquisition has been approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
Thomas Etuh, a renowned philanthropist from Kogi Igala, has been appointed as the chairman of the board. The new investor has also nominated a team of experts to the board, including Nahim Abe Ibraheem, Femi Edun, Daisy Ehanire Danjuma, a former senator, Michael Ikpoki, Ibrahim Puri, Gloria Danjuma, and Emmanuel Etuh.
Obafemi Banigb has been appointed as the managing director and chief executive officer to lead the company through the transition stage and drive its recovery. With over 24 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Banigb brings deep technical knowledge and proven leadership to the team.
John Vasikiran has been appointed as the company’s chief operating officer, while Abolaji Idowu takes on the role of chief financial officer. The reconstitution of the Board of Directors and the Executive leadership marks a significant milestone in 9mobile’s transformation program, positioning the company for competitiveness in the market.
