Kogi 2023: Igala Has Done 16 Years It’s The Turn Of Ebira, Senator Oseni, faults governorship aspirants pushing for zoning from Kogi west.

Ahead of Kogi State governorship election in November, 2023, Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District and Chairman of Senate Committee on Cybercrime and ICT, Yakubu Oseni has faulted some governorship aspirants insisting on zoning arrangements.

Oseni, who is a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, spoke with journalists in Abuja, that zoning or rotation of governorship never existed in Kogi as some interested individuals from other districts outside the Central where governor Yahaya Bello comes from.

He said Kogi East ruled for 16 years without regard to the zoning, insisting that the development has laid to rest zoning rhetoric, hence, anybody can contest governorship.

The lawmaker, however, stressed that the electorate must be allowed to choose their governor and not an individual, no matter how highly placed such a person is.

He said: “There is no zoning arrangement in Kogi State governorship race. The electorate are the ones to determine their leaders through election.

“The wrong impression by the people that the governorship of Kogi is zoning is not correct. There was nothing like that before or now.

“Kogi East ruled for 16 years until God decided to change it, so where is the zoning arrangement?”

According to him, zoning like religious and tribal politics are those sentiments that posed danger to getting the right person with capacity to govern Kogi State, hence, such sentiment should be downplayed as Kogi faces governorship election this year.

He insisted that the electorate should look out for anyone that has capacity to deliver, explaining that capacity means governing the State based on party manifesto.

“Hence it’s not in the hands of any individual to select who will be the state governor, let people decide”.

He claimed that Yahaya Bello is the most successful governor in the history of Kogi State, even as he was being portrayed in bad light by some social media ranters.
