Kogi 2019: Irukera Promises To Transform Kogi Using Agriculture, Tourism

A  contender in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi state on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Barrister Babatunde Irukera has promised to use agriculture and tourism to transform and remove the state from its present economic woes where payment  salary, pension and provision of infrastructure are grossly lacking.
Irukera who is the Director General , Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission made this promise on Saturday during the inauguration of 21 local government areas campaign  coordinators ahead of the primary election of APC .

He  said Kogi state have no reason to be poor considering the abundant agricultural and tourism potentials scattered in the state .
The aspirant noted that Kogi state has arable land and human resources aside other mineral resources in commercial quantities, assuring that if given the mandate to lead the state as governor , he would utilise his wealth of experience , his connections both within and outside the country to harness those potential together for the betterment of the people of the state.
According to him “I am not aspiring to be governor of Kogi state because I want to be rich , my mission and vision for the state is to bridged the gap between the rich and the poor and we can achieve this through the support of the electorate.
“We must use our connections and exposure to create jobs for the people especially the youth who have graduated for years without jobs. We are resolute that is why we have come to you to give us your mandate.
“We will create job through massive investment in various segment of agriculture , farming is not for the people . in great countries of the world farmers are billionaire , we will do that in Kogi state
“We will use mutual engagement to tackle issue of security of lives and property in Kogi state , when there is unity in the land and the  leaders does not divide the people , when there is no tension , no division , there will be adequate security”

Irukera who cautioned the people of the state to be wary of aspirants that does not have anything to add to their lives, advised the delegate to base their selection on  character and ability to deliver dividend of democracy to the people.
“I am urging Kogi people to chose their leader base on character, what he is  known for , the only people who deserve to lead us in Kogi are those who have done something for the people to see”
In his remark the former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly Rt Hon. Umar Imam Alfa described Irukera as a leader who have the welfare of his people at heart.
He noted that the inauguration of the campaign coordinator was a prelude to the positive change the people of the state are craving for, urging the coordinators to be up and doing in an effort to sell the candidacy of Barrister Irukera to the people.
“My kind of politics is for freedom and we have the same ideology with Irukera that why the reason we have decided to support out of all other aspirants in APC and I am optimistic that he will pick the ticket at the end of the primary election” he said.
Also speaking, APC women leader , Hajia Fatimah Allahdey called on women in Kogi state to be upright in the fight for the freedom of women and their children.
Allahdey who said that Irukera is the only aspirant that can salvage the people from the suffering orchestrated by the current administration, noted that women can no longer maintained silent while their future and that of their children are perpetually mortgaged by self centred people who paraded themselves as leaders of the state.
“APC belong to us and we will leave no stone unturn to support and deliver Irukera at the primary election. Women are resolute to have a leader who will remember us when he reach Lugard House” she added.
