Kano Rerun: Police arrest Ganduje’s commissioner over election violence

Information reaching us indicated that Kano State Commissioner for Special Duties, Muktar Yakasai, is in the custody of the Nigerian police following his arrest at Yelwa Secondary School in Dala local government area of the state.
A supplementary election for the governorship election is going on in the state and there had been reported cases of violence and voter intimidation, especially in the disputed Gama Ward in Nassarawa local government area of the state.

According to the report, Police officers on election duty Saturday arrested Mr Yakasai after allegedly leading some thugs to disrupt ongoing election in the area.
According to some eyewitnesses, Mr Yakasai was arrested alongside some of the thugs he came to the venue with.

Also, some witnesses said violence has broken out again in Gama ward and the police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse youth who were becoming agitated.
