Just In: Security operatives clear Niger of bandits, kill 200

A joint team of security operatives including the Army, Police and vigilance corps have reportedly cleared Niger State of bandits terrorising the state and adjoining states.

A highly elated resident of Kontagora, Niger State, who spoke with ElombahNews on Monday during a phone interview on condition of anonymity, informed this medium that the security operatives killed at least two hundred of the terrorists over the weekend.

At the prodding of this medium, he explained that the success was owing to a dissension that arose among the bandits.

One of them consequently surrendered himself, as well as their location and mode of operation to security operatives following which an attack was launched.

He noted, however, that quite a few of them escaped either with gunshot wounds or unscathed but that the counted dead bodies numbered some two hundred.

Similarly, another source from Niger State, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed same via chat messages.

He disclosed that security operatives have located and cordoned those that kidnapped students from a Kebbi College.

Recall that ElombahNews reported on June 17 how a concerned resident of a neighbouring village from Yauri in Kebbi State raised alarm over an ongoing case of kidnapped of federal government college , Yauri

The resident, simply identified as Sunday, said female students of the College were kidnapped in broad daylight.
