In a significant verdict, a Kano High Court has sentenced Geng Quandong, a Chinese national, to death by hanging for the murder of his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Buhari.
Quandong, aged 47, was convicted under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State for the offense of culpable homicide punishable by death.
This ruling comes after Quandong was found guilty of fatally stabbing the 23-year-old victim at her family residence in Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano, on September 16, 2022.
Following Islamic customs, the 23-year-old Nigerian woman was laid to rest at approximately 10 a.m. last Saturday.
Narrating the harrowing incident, the mother of the deceased disclosed that the Chinese national initially shoved her aside upon her opening the door for him after persistent knocking. She hurried to her daughter’s room only to witness the fatal stabbing that claimed her life.
