At least 34 states of the Federation have established State House of Assembly Service Commissions to promote the development of the legislative service in Nigeria. However, two states, Enugu State in the South East and Katsina State in the NorthWest, are yet to put in place theirs.
the Executive Chairman, National Assembly Service Commission, Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi, FNSE, FAEng, fnli, (r) is in a tete-a-tete with the Chairman of the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Uchechukwu Maduako (l) during the courtesy call on the former today.
This was disclosed today (Wednesday) by the Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Engr Ahmed Khadi Amshi, when he received a delegation of the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission in his office.
Engr Amshi told his guests that the National Assembly Service Commission, which came into being over two decades ago ,had consistently striven to encourage the States to establish their Assembly Service Commissions as a way of developing the legislative service in the country. This, he explained, was not only to ensure the autonomy of state legislatures but also to help develop the necessary manpower and skills required by legislative workers to enhance optimum productivity in the lawmaking process.
The Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission’s delegation was led by its Chairman , Honourable Uchechukwu Maduako.
Hon Maduako explained that his delegation was in Abuja to understudy the administrative processes and procedures of the NASC with the view to borrow a leaf towards the effective take-off of his Commission which was inaugurated recently.
The delegation was also availed of working documents, which would enable the state Assembly Service Commission to draw up a road map for effective take-off.
