JS Okutepa SAN mourns says “Late Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga gave me his office free rent to start”

by

I was devastated by the news that his lordship Hon Mr Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga, President Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal passed on yesterday the 21st of June 2020. The news sounded unbelievable. This was a man in whose heart rests justice for all. He was a good man and a good judicial officer of credit and repute.

I came to know Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga in 1991. In 1993 Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga gave me his office at No 51 Railway Bye Pass High Level Makurdi free of rent for one year. He had paid the rent for the office till 1994 and he was moving to Kogi. He did not demand for refund of the rent he paid in advance. He willingly gave me the office to start off. Such was the generosity and kindness of his lordship.

He was a quintessential jurist of credit and he fears God. He was passionate about welfare of the people. He was kind hearted man. God it is difficult to fathom why his lordship has to go home now. My condolences to us all.

This is one deaths too many in our land. May God heal the Igala race and our land. Good night my lord, Hon Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga.
