JS Okutepa SAN Mourns Justice Nasir Ajanah

the message read:

On 28th day of June 2020,I received the sad news of the death of his Lordship Hon Mr Justice Nasir Ajanah, the Honourable, the Chief Judge of Kogi State. It was a rude shock to hear that his lordship was no more. The last time I had interactions with his lordship was on the 19th of March 2020.
On that occasion we discussed and shared ideas on justice in our state, Kogi State. His lordship drew my attention to an issue that he felt I should know and we both understood our respective positions. Hon justice Nasir Ajanah was a great judicial officer who did his best under excruciating and unhygienic circumstances of our land.He was a judicial colossus and an iconic legal juggernaut.
Not too long ago, we also lost another eminent legal mind, Hon Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga, the President of Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal.
The death of these two legal grants at this critical moment in our national life is as tragic as it is unfortunate and sad. The judiciary and the legal community have lost a quintessential jurist. Hon justice Ajanah CJ as he then was will be greatly missed.
He fought many battles for the independence and impartiality of the judiciary of Kogi State under his watch. He had had reasons to go to Court to protect Judiciary from intimidation and executive lawlessness. Notwithstanding excruciating executive intimidation his lordship performed his judicial functions within the limit of his ability. On behalf of myself and my law firm, I extend my condolences to the immediate family of his lordship, the government and good people of Kogi State and in particular the Kogi state Judiciary. May the good lord grant his lordship peaceful rest amen.
