It Doesn’t Concern Me’’ – Sanwo-Olu Speaks On Major Corruption Allegations Against Lagos Speaker Obasa

The Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the corruption allegations Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly is purely a legislate matter.

‘’It doesn’t concern the governor’’ Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary made the position of the Governor known in a brief chat with societynow.ng.

Akosile stated that anybody who feels interested can petition the anti-corruption agencies about the corruption allegations against the Speaker but the Governor wouldn’t interfere in the affairs of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The position of the Governor is made known on the heels of calls from different quarters – including from chieftains of opposition parties – for Governor Sanwo-Olu to take a stand on the corruption allegations against Spkear Obasa.

On Tuesday, Members of the Civil Society Network Against Corruption on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest at the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and submitted a petition against the Speaker.

The group, in the petition signed by its chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, listed “purchase of a bulletproof car at a market value of less than N100m and the inflation of its price to N300m; as well as unilateral purchase of 40 cars for members of the Assembly with neither prior discussion with members nor official approval by the House” as some of the allegations they want the EFCC to probe Speaker Obasa
