Insecurity; President Buhari warns Service Chiefs, IG of Police, others

President Mohammadu Buhari has ordered the Service Chiefs and other security and intelligence agencies in the country to track down and eliminate bandits, kidnappers as well as their sponsors, OBSERVERS TIMES report

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-General Babagana Monguno, disclosed this to State House Correspondents after a security meeting, chaired by President Buhari in the State House, Abuja.

At the meeting attended by the country’s Service Chiefs and other Military heads, the President insisted that all decisions approved at the recently held National Security Council meeting, including the ban on mining activities in Zamfara and the no-fly-zone order, remain in force until further notice.

He charged the Service Chiefs to be proactive, warning them against allowing the safety of the country to be in the hands of criminals and bandits. He charged them to trail and eliminate everyone of them, in other to create a safe environment for Nigerians.

Those who attended the security meeting are; Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Defense Minister, Major-General Bashir Magashi (Rtd); and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and the National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (Rtd).

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the Director-General of Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, and the Director-General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar were all in attendance as well.

Others are Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff; Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amoo.
