Comrade Austin Usman Okai, the outspoken voice of the diverstated good people of Kogi State has just stated that the entire members of the Kogi State House of Assembly deserve proper delivery prayers. This is coming on the heels of the current request by Alhaji Yahaya Bello, seeking the State House of Assembly approval, under the leadership of Prince Kolawole, to borrow N2 billion State. It is amazing that such request is coming from a government that is unable to account for over N300 billion inflow into the State purse since 2016 when the ignoble administration came to power. To say at this point that Kogi State has fallen into insolvency, is an understatement. The government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, from all indications, has demonstrated absolute lack of direction and good governance in the State as there is no tangible project to show the world.
The State House of Assembly, who is approving this request is also not spared the callousness of governor Yahaya Bello administration as several of their entitlements are being denied the members.
Prince Kolawole should know that there are checks and balances in democratic governance. The Kogi State House of Assembly should therefore, rise to the occasion by saving the good people of Kogi State from further questionable debts. It is common knowledge that governor Yahaya Bello has pocketed the State Assembly who are now at his beck and call, however, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Prince Kolawole should allow posterity to record him in good books by providing transparent leadership at a time like this.
