The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, again took his campaign to the 14th National Conference and Jubilee Celebration of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Ubulu Uku, Delta State, on Saturday, in violation of the Electoral Act, 2022.
While addressing a large crowd of worshipers that attended the event, Mr Obi promised to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria and treat every citizen equally if elected president.
Section 92(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 says, “Places designated for religious worship, police stations, and public offices shall not be used for political campaigns, rallies, and processions; or to promote, propagate, or attack political parties, candidates, or their programes, or ideologies.”

In July, he attended “The Judgement Praise Night with Pastor Paul Enenche,” organized by the Dunamis International Gospel Center in Abuja.
Similarly, in August, Mr Obi was at the Redemption Camp for the first time to celebrate the 70th Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, where he was given a loud ovation.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been consistent in warning politicians to abide by the provisions of the law or face sanctions.
But speaking at the event , Mr Obi said: “I’m asking you to vote for me because I’ll turn around Nigeria, I want to build a Nigeria where the son of Nobody will become somebody, and a daughter of Nobody will become somebody,” he said amidst cheers and applause from the congregations.
