Conglomerates of Igala sons and daughters and the elites, is to convene a pure cultural befitting centre to be located in Anyigba This is as a result of series of controversies surrounding the originator, ownership and political interference of the newly constructed igala house, that devoid of Igala nation extraction.
A statement issued in Anyigba on behalf of the elites and founding members of Igala Cultural Development Association(ICDA),impressed the attitude of the present adminstration that had arrogated the decision of befitting Igala house to state government pet project Achor Opaluwa on behalf of the Igala nation elites at home and in the diaspora, said a committee will be constituted to look out for about 10 acres of land, within the Anyigba city centre and vicinity to be named as real “Igala House”,consisting of all facilities like schools, hospitals, supermarkets,Hotels and market meant to service the proposed edifice He said the committee is mandated to submit Its preliminary reports to the body in December for onward transmission to a working paper, beginning from next year.
The building to be constructed with proceeds from well meaning individuals, politicians, business conglomerates as well as donations from well meaning Nigerians, may cost over 10 billion naira at its inception, and will be subject to further expansion Concerned Igala elites have expressed dissatisfaction with the crises surrounding the new house, originally meant for the “Igala Nation”,but now an arm of government and project meant to be commissioned by the governor,Alhaji Yahaya Bello Even though, it was constructed by the local government using its funds, and we’ll meaning individuals
it is abnormal for a state governor seeking for popularity, relevance and project to commission, to hijack such project meant for a particular section of the state “It is an insult and assault on the sensibilities of the Igala nation, not obtainable in the Central and West of less population, but imposed on the Igala nation whose population is enough to be at advantage and not disadvantage” “The commissioning of the government owned “Igala house”,has nothing to do with the cultural activities of the people of Kogi east, and therefore any form of ceremony that preclude highly placed individual from Kogi east is unacceptable, aberration, null and void and should be disregarded by the people of the area ” “It is unheard of in any enclave and community in Nigeria, for a communal efforts supported by an arm of government, hijacked by the unpopular administration as a means to promote its political relevance and activities”
