Granting interview at the interactive meeting of PDP Women Aspirants with the party’s National Women Leader, Kogi Central Senatorial Aspirant, Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan briefed the pressmen on her preparedness to see a new paradigm shift to governance through policy formulations, industrialization plans and treaties.
Responding to questions on the forthcoming primaries and general elections, especially in Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha said “we have to scale through the primaries first where we have seven of us and I am the only woman among the seven. A gentleman stepped down for me last night graciously and he is bringing in his support.
“Generally, I would say that Kogi State has not had a female senator and I hope that when I step into the national assembly, I would be able to afford good representation not just for the female gender but the both genders because the country is made up of men as well. And one of the things I look forward to is a new paradigm shift to governance whereby obsolete laws are legislated upon, international and national treaties would be deliberated in favour of our country”.
Speaking on the need for more women participation in the governance of the country, Natasha stated that women alone cannot guarantee women in leadership positions. She further called on the few female elected officers especially the legislators to be more aggressive towards ensuring the emergence of more women in elective positions through policies and campaigns.
