A Kogi Born civil servant Identified as Okpetu Immanuel has narrated his ordeal alongside many other workers in the hands of Kogi State Government under the leadership Yahaya Adoza Bello.
According to the Okpetu who spoke exclusively to OBSERVERSTIMES correspondent, the crop of workers were duly employed to replace the sacked staffs who failed to comply with the directive of the state government a couple of years ago but are being denied of their salaries for 31 good Months despite efforts to have this rectified.
Our offenses are yet to be known, we have visited many appointees of the state government, our traditional rulers tried to intervain, all yielded poor results as we’re now wallowing and gloating in confusion, Says the spokesperson for the group.
Okpetu Immanuel who responds to question reeled by our correspondent said, “at this point, we’re calling on the general public to help us ask the government of Kogi state what is holding the salary of the staff employed between September 2019 and February 2020, silence is no longer golden, hence our collective resolve to make public our plight.”
We must in all honesty ask this pertinent question of what the offenses of the 28 People employed during this epoch are, why is our salaries withheld for 31 Months when we have families to take care of? He asked.
We’re bonified citizens of the State, we reserve the exclusive rights to our freedom, we can longer live as second class citizens In our Land, we’re not strangers but Citizens who contributed immensely to the growth and development of the State and her economy. Mr Okpetu concluded.
Recall that, the issue of non payment of salaries has lingered so long since the inception of Yahaya Bello led administration in Kogi State, one would thought that with the high influx of bailout funds and other loans procured by Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the issue of non payment of salaries would be history.
