When the government of Kogi State perpetrated evil by arming thugs to kill, steal and destroy during the election, very many people payed deaf ears to the alarm raised, forgetting that it’s repercussions, at a long run, always tilt towards the innocent people in the society. Security is very delicate, when we treat it, let’s do so with all wisdom. Where are the boys and fake police officers armed during the Kogi State government election last year?
At noon yesterday, we were greeted with the horribly sad news of the Bank Robbery in Isanlu, Kogi State. The social media was littered with the gory pictures of gallant police officers and passersby gruesomely murdered through the barrel of guns and mercilessly pieced with merciless bullets, leaving them in the pool of their own bloods. It’s not fair if we politicise everything, but, we can’t unearth evils if we shy away from facts. What happened in Insanlu yesterday is a clear indication that no where is safe in Kogi State. While robbery continue to thrive, kidnapping is on a high rate at Dekina and other parts of the state.
The truth is, there is never a smoke without fire. Every crime has an origin. In the case of our society, most robbery crimes are traced to aggrieved used and dumped individuals by politicians. They equip vibrant young men with guns for election, thereafter, they dump them. The Armed thugs on the other hand would be left with no alternative than to descend on innocent people, to kill, steal and destroy for their survival.
It’s feasible for the Kogi State government to fish out the Armed robbers who robbed at Insanlu yesterday. The State government is mini omnipotent and omniscient within the purview of the state. Unfortunately, they only fight crimes on the pages of blogs and newspapers. The government should identify those fake police officers that were used in that axis of the state in the last election and retrieve those guns that were given to them through Caretaker Chiarman. Only by that would they show us they are making progress in bringing perpetrators to justice.
More crimes loom in Kogi State if the government refuses to call those thugs to order. They have brough disaster upon the people and only them are capable of fighting it if they truly wish to.
