Lagos State is at the forefront of all activities in Nigeria,as the financial and economic capital of the country,so it is also confronted with other challenges that desire both urgent attention and proactive decisions.

But,the joy or robust leadership initiatives under the state government headed by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has made governance easier, assessible and accessible through putting a round peg in a round hole.

This developement occassioned the tackling headlong of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic by the state government, by declaring a ‘State of Emergency’ in the health sector in Lagos State,so as to arrest the spread of the dreaded second wave of COVID-19 disease.

Since a healthy nation is classified as wealthy nation,the singular idea of the state government throwing it’s weight behind the need to provide medication and prevention of the spread of the second wave cannot be overemphasized.

Tackling health challenges particularly the global pandemic that had ravaged the economic,social developement of developed countries,no doubt amidst other pressing demands of development of social Infrastructural breakthrough of the state,the need to prioritize the health of it’s citizens desire all needed urgency.

As a cosmopolitan city, Lagos State that played host on a daily basis to both Indigenous and foreign investors in large chunk,the need to provide an enabling environment through the health insurance of many visitors into the state needed a concerted and well thought out program of activities,so as to reduce the the barest minimum the growing effects of the disease.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in doing this, introduced a partial restrictions in the civil service,where grades level 14 down ward,were instructed to work from home till further notice,while schools due for resumption adopt a new policy of shift taken cognisance of the COVID-19 pandemic protocols.

It became a policy statements and law that social distancing,timing in religious gatherings in Churches and Mosques, and cancellation of social events in the state,came to full force, till the health situations and environment is convenient for such programs and occassions.

This is in addition to wearing of face mask in public places,washing of hand with soap, clean and running water,the use of hand sanitisers and other medical provision to protect and at the same time preclude the spread.

The state government declared that hence forth, Lagosians who suffers from Malaria infection will be treated as COVID-19 pandemic patient,pending the full investigation of his/her health status,since Malaria to an extent displayed the symptoms of the dreaded sickness.

The Governor also re-equip,upgraded and expand the existing isolation and testing centres in addition to creating more to attend to the usual congestion on Lagos State to save the state of COVID-19 free.

Lagos State created an awareness outlets and special program to educate Lagosians and visitors into Lagos State with a tag..

This policy of government since the return of the second wave of COVID-19, had assisted the state government in no small measure, pending when Nigeria has assess to the new vaccine of the disease.

Lagos State Government, including residents and visitors are expected to rid Lagos of COVID-19 disease from their conducts and disposition, in line with the protocols’ guiding the spread of the disease.

This is done through all and sundry taken responsibility to make Lagos greater and free of any health challenges, including the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

This can be achieved through constant wearing of mask in all public institutions ,private and other entities as the needed option to contain the spread of the disease in Lagos State.

The new and emergency policies of the state government to protect the health of it’s citizens has started yielding results,as the spread in Lagos State is reduced to the barest minimum ,while those that tested positive and hospitalised has been treated and fully recovered, from the testimonies from the isolation centres and specially designated hospitals for COVID-19 patients.

With this positive developement,if sustain over the coming weeks,Lagos State will fully return to it’s status as the commercial and economic capital of Nigeria,with minimal health challenges to contend with ,having adhered to the protocols required.

This will also grant an unfettered and unrestricted goverrment and private conglomerates activities to thrive,without hindrance.

It will also allow planning and execution of developmental programs convened by the state government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to run concurrently in line with his campaign promises to all Lagosians.
