The Kogi State Police Command has arrested Jeremiah Samson, a 20-year-old from Kaduna South, for the gruesome murder of Damilola, a 19-year-old student from the Federal University, Lokoja. Samson’s arrest was confirmed by William Aya, the State Police Public Relations Officer.
According to reports, Samson kidnapped Damilola and demanded N400,000 from her parents, which he collected. Despite receiving the ransom, he strangled and dismembered her, burying her body in a shallow grave. The police have exhumed her body, along with another unidentified corpse, from a bush near the NNPC filling station in Felele.
Samson confessed to contacting an herbalist named Arab Money via Facebook for the ritual. He claimed he decided to kill Damilola after she attempted to escape captivity. The police will charge Samson in court once the investigation is complete.
This heinous crime has sparked outrage and highlights the need for increased security measures to protect citizens, especially students. The police must be commended for their swift action in apprehending the suspect.
