A video has surfaced showing personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) jubilating over the resignation of the immediate past Director-General, Yusuf Bichi. This comes after President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of a new Director-General, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, on Monday.
The video, which has been circulating on social media, shows DSS personnel cheering, dancing, and exchanging congratulatory messages following the announcement of Bichi’s exit. According to fact-check results, the video is recent and linked to comments on the celebration of DSS personnel on Bichi’s resignation.
Nigerian netizens have revealed that Bichi’s leadership style and policies created divisions among personnel, leading to widespread discontent. Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore hoped that the next person to be asked to leave office would be the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Sowore criticized Bichi’s leadership and compared it to the current Inspector General of Police, stating that both have turned their respective organizations into favoritism hubs. He called for an end to bad governance in Nigeria and a revolution to bring about change.
