Gwagware Foundation empowers 500 youths in Katsina State

 

The Gwagware foundation has successfully trained a total number of 500 Katsina State youths on computer skills as well as tailoring

The training had youths and women drawn from Daura, Funtua and Katsina zones.

The youths and women also received start up packs after the training to enhance their entrepreneurial skills in order for them to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the state.

The event which took place at the National Youth Service Corp Secretariat in Katsina State had in attendance beneficiaries, and teeming supporters of the Director General of SMEDAN and Chairman Board of Trustees of the Gwagware Foundation, Dikko Umaru Radda PhD.

Accordingly, 250 were trained in basic computer operation skills while 250 women were also empowered via tailoring.

Beneficiaries who were trained in computer skills got computers while those trained on tailoring were also given tailoring machines.

In his remarks the Founder of Gwagware foundation and CEO SMEDAN, Umaru Dikko Radda PhD, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the start up items given to them to improve their wellbeing.

He pledged his support in improving the lives of Katsina citizens through empowerment programmes that will being growth and development of the state and the country at large.

Also, the Chairperson of the event and wife of the, governor Hajiya Hadiza Masari commended the DG for the initiative, which according to her will go along way in addressing social Vices such as banditry, kidnapping in the state.

She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the starter packs and improve on their lives and those of their family.

Also, representative of the First Bank of Nigeria pledged to offer free training as well as Point of Sale (POS) Machines to the computer trainees as well as free training to carry on there business.

Also speaking, Alhaji Mohammad Kabir Usman Amoga, said “the rationale behind the gesture is to ensure that youths and women are provided with what they need for their businesses to thrive in Katsina State,”

He continued that Every item given to the beneficiaries is personally sponsored by the Founder and DG of SMEDAN.

Also in a remark, commissioner for Education in Katsina State, Dr. Badamasi Lawal Charanchi underscored the relevance of computer skills in today’s especially to Nigeria’s youthful population, while calling on beneficiaries to grab the opportunity and uplift their status.
