Group alleges campaign of calumny against Senator Jibrin Barau

The Northern Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has expressed concern of petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) against Senator Jibrin Barau, the representative of Kano North Senatorial District on constituency projects and his children owning some companies.

The group in a statement issued by its President, Isah Abubakar and made available to Daily Post in Kaduna on Friday condemned in strong terms the recent events in Kano State that led to the looting and  burning down of the Senator’s campaign office.

According to the statement, ICPC team that were dispatched to Kano to monitor Constituency Projects commended the Senator for being the “Most Compliant in  terms of execution of Constituency Projects”, saying that if their phantom projects they are holding unto is anything worthy of attention, the all seeing eyes of the ICPC would have behold it.

According to the group, “We should not in anyway by quick in taking the law into our hands but efforts should be made to resolve any issue through dialogue, if any. Whoever that is aggrieved should not resort to violence leading to the burning of Senator Jibrin Barau’s campaign office as resorting to violence has not done this country good but taking us backward of what has been laid for the development of the society.”

The youths expressed fear that if they don’t rise in unison to protect one of the best that we have in the National Assembly, the financiers of the violence done to his campaign office would not hesitate to eliminate the Senator, saying that the  manifestation of their desperation all point to that.

“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have bothered to join issues with them, but, for the recent events in Kano State that led to the looting and  burning down of the Distinguished Senator’s Campaign Office. We have every fear that if we don’t rise in unison to protect one of the best that we have in the National Assembly, the financiers of this elements won’t hesitate to eliminate the Distinguished Senator. As the  manifestation of their desperation all point to that,” the statement explained.

The statement noted that not satisfied with the destruction done to the Senator, same people have now resorted to synthesizing and releasing ICPC report to indict the Senator, stressing that a little fact check would helped them of the performance of the Senator in ensuring the people enjoy dividends of democracy.

The youths noted that 2023 is already here, more satanic moves against popular potential aspirants who have done much for their people both infrastructure and empowerment wise, pointing out that people should employ their reasoning to issues that are societal benefits than personal gain.

The statement, therefore, advised those behind the guerilla warfare against the Senator to stop hiding behind faceless group and non existing report and come out openly to challenge the Senator in a popularity contest, saying that politics is a game of number, people should go to the political field and test their popularity to any elective position.

The group admonished Senator Jibrin Barau and other politicians to remain focus in attracting projects to their constituencies and continue in the good work they have been doing, stressing that leaders in the history of human existence passed through moments like this, but at the end they came out better and stronger.

The group called on all Security agencies to put search light on persons behind the circulated Non Existing and forged ICPC report, saying that should anything negative happen to the Senator, his children or his investment, they will certainly reveal those financing such evil acts.
