In a surprise move, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has instructed Usman Ododo to award automatic tickets to all 21 local government caretaker committees, allowing them to contest in the upcoming elections. The nine committees from Kogi East will be adopted at the Deputy Governor’s House in Ejule.
While Ododo has expressed reservations about the decision, he has chosen not to publicly disagree with his former boss, Governor Bello. However, the move has been met with disapproval from some APC leaders in Kogi West and Kogi East, who were hoping to have a say in the selection process. Some House of Representatives members are also unhappy, as they had anticipated having input in their local governments.
