In a recent interview on Channels TV, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara urged his predecessor and current serving minister, Nyesom Wike, to release his grip on Rivers State and allow peace to prevail in the region.
Despite facing resistance from Wike’s supporters in the PDP and APC during the local government election last Saturday, Fubara stands by his decision to conduct the election and emphasized his efforts in seeking peace, even recounting numerous occasions where he knelt to plead for resolution.
Expressing his willingness to cooperate and maintain peace agreements with the FCT Minister, Fubara urged Wike to prioritize the well-being of the state over personal disputes. Stressing the importance of unity and stability, he urged all parties involved to set aside their differences for the greater good of Rivers State.
With election season in the past, Fubara emphasized the need for governance and urged all stakeholders to move forward in a spirit of cooperation and support for the betterment of the state.
Addressing concerns of unrest following the swearing-in of newly elected local government chairpersons, Fubara reassured the public that he had no hand in any destructive actions and remained committed to maintaining peace and security within the state.
