Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, joined his classmates on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at St. Joseph Parish, Kornya, to celebrate their 34th Priestly Ordination anniversary. During the thanksgiving Mass, Governor Alia expressed gratitude to God for sustaining them in their vocation, acknowledging the challenges they faced over the years.
He emphasized the importance of forgiveness, stating that he has forgiven those who worked against him in the last governorship election. Governor Alia reiterated his commitment to delivering democracy dividends to Benue people, regardless of political affiliation or religious background. He also encouraged the youth to embrace agriculture for wealth creation and better livelihoods.
Additionally, Governor Alia called on Benue people to form farm cooperatives to benefit from his programs. He expressed his passion for the priesthood and plans to return to the church after his political stewardship.
In his sermon, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Akumbur Phelle urged the people to trust in God’s solutions to human problems and sustain prayers for Governor Alia to complete his tasks. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Chief Emmanuel Doki, thanked Governor Alia for his peaceful disposition and good works.
Other classmates and dignitaries present included Rev. Fr. Sylvester Omoke, Rev. Fr. Bernard Asogo, Rev. Fr. Marcellenus Yese, Rev. Fr. Francis Agba, Bishop Thomas Ayoo Tsav, and government officials.
