Good s*x lowers risk of heart attack —Expert

Recent studies have proven that good sexual intercourse between a man and a woman, especially amongst married couples, engenders good health vis-a-vis other benefits.
A consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Dr Olayinka Ogunbode, told journalists that coitus could help lower risk of heart attack.
According to him “S*xual activity helps keep levels of hormones, like oestrogen and testosterone, in check and thereby promoting good cardiac health.”
Speaking on other health benefits of s*xual intercourse, Dr Ogunbode reiterated that it could reduce risks of prostate cancer.
“A few studies have shown that men who have frequent ejaculations (defined as 21 times a month or more) are less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who have fewer ejaculations.”
Sex adds the benefit of exercise. Having s*x increases the heart rate and utilizes various muscle groups, burning about 5 calories per minute, the consultant added.
While noting that coitus promotes family bonding, Dr Ogunbode said that good sex promotes social and mental health amongst couples.
“The more sex a couple has, the more they feel connected to each other. Sex boosts the body’s ability to make protective antibodies against bacteria, viruses and other germs that cause common illnesses,” he said.
In addition, he said that good sexual intercourse lowers stress and improves the quality of sleep.
During sex, the brain’s pleasure centres are hit with dopamine while your cortisol level drops.
“Oxytocin that boosts feelings of friendship and happiness is also released in droves.

“A satisfying round of sex can help you fight insomnia,” he said.
