General TY Danjuma not Dead, Hale and Healthy – Family

Retired Warlord, General Theophilus Danjuma is alive and healthy as against rumours of his death in some quarters, family source disclosed this to OBSERVERS TIMES.

”It’s has become urgent and important for us to respond to the rumour flying round that the Rtd General who hails from Takum LGA of Taraba state is no more, this rumour remains a rumore as it is not true. These are just group of persons who are bent of paddling fake news and using same to gain possible traffic on their sites, the General Family source disclosed this “

The family source emphasize that “Life shouldn’t be a thing of joke more of it that of some one as prominent as General TY Danjuma. The general is strong, hale and hathy and the public is here by advise to disregard such news as it is fake ,unfounded and malicious.”

At the time of filing this report, the very reliable source who would not want his names mentioned in the print said that the General is doing well  was still receiving guests.

Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma GCON FSS psc is a politician and retired Nigerian Army Lieutenant General who played a key role in post independence military and politcal events in Nigeria. Danjuma amassed an enormous fortune through shipping and petroleum

He was Chief of Army Staff from July 1975 to October 1979. He was also Minister of Defence under  President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

After which he set up the TY Danjuma foundation with a $100 million endowment. During a public forum in February 2010, he recounted his reasons for setting up the charity:

“This was extra money I did not know what to do with. I did not just want to leave the money in the bank. At some point, I thought about saving the money for my children, but I decided against it. I realized that they could fight over the money after I’m dead. So, I decided, why not give back to my people.”

The TY Danjuma Foundation is a private independent grant making philanthropic organization based in Abuja, Nigeria which makes grants to and partners with Non Governmental organizations that champion and promote causes in Education, free healthcare, policy advocacy and poverty alleviation.

Theophilus Danjuma believes he’s a philanthropist. He currently devotes his time and energies towards managing South Atlantic Petroleum, a leading indigenous oil exploration and production company he founded, while dabbling in affairs of state once in a while.
