Fugitive Former Governor Yahaya Bello Now in Hiding in a local hotel at Ajaokuta

Wanted former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who escaped from the Government House in Lokoja on Thursday night, is reportedly hiding in Ajaokuta, a town about a 30-minute drive from Lokoja, OurWorldGist report.

According to reliable information provided by a resident of Ajaokuta who spoke to Ourworldgist under the condition of anonymity, “Yahaya Bello, who is wanted by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)  is currently staying at the ‘3G Hotel’ located in Kaduna Estate, Ajaokuta.”

The source added that Yahaya Bello arrived at the hotel around 9:16 AM, driving himself, accompanied by a young lady approximately 24 years old and his nephew, Mallam Ali Bello, who currently serves as the Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

In related news, Bello’s wife, Rashidat Yahaya Bello, also wanted by the EFCC, is reportedly still hiding in the Government House, Lokoja.

She has allegedly moved from her luxurious apartment to another building disguised as an office.

It was reported that Yahaya Bello, who faces charges of misappropriating funds amounting to N84 billion among other accusations, resisted arrest by the EFCC on Wednesday.

He was smuggled away by Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo from his residence in Benghazi, Wuse, Abuja while EFCC’s officers were laying in siege for his arrest.

This incident has sparked outrage among the public and the federal government, prompting the EFCC to declare him wanted.

Consequently, all security details provided to him by the Nigeria Police Force have been withdrawn.
