Former Senate President, Pius Anyim, Defects to APC

 

In a significant political development, former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The former Senate President was received into the party at a rally held at the Abakaliki Stadium, alongside other notable defectors from the Southeast region.

The event was attended by top APC stakeholders, including the national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma. Anyim’s defection was announced during the Grand Finale of the APC Local Government election campaign in Pa Oruta Ngele Township, Abakaliki, on Saturday.

The former Senate President was accompanied by a large number of supporters, including former members of the National and State Assemblies, a former governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the state, Edwin Nkwegu, Senator Obinna Ọgba, and other prominent politicians from various political parties. This development marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the region.
