*Former Kogi State Governor, Ibrahim Idris Ibro Visit Victims of Fulani Massacre.

His Excellency, Dr. Ibrahim Idris, former governors of Kogi State, North Central Nigeria has paid solidarity visits to natives and other residents of Kogi State who were victims of recent violent clashes perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.
Dr. Idris who embarked on a private tour of all the flash points in Dekina he paid a visit to Ejeh of Dekina palace , Bassa where he visited the Aguma of Bassa and the and Omala local government areas where paid a visit to the palace of ÔJÔGBA of IFE noted with regrets that the value of human life has diminished over time as a result of which killing, maiming and shedding innocent blood appears to be normal in Nigeria.
In His words, His Excellency, Dr. Idris recalled that “just a few years ago, Kogi State was peaceful and security was air tight in every single community. It is unfortunate that what is now obtainable has made it possible for armed bandits to raid communities, burn houses, destroy farms and kill people without fear of being reprimanded by the authorities.”
During a courtesy visit on the traditional rulers of the affected communities, Dr. Idris while at the palace of the Ejeh of Dekina prayed for the repose of souls of the dead and handed over an undisclosed amount of money for the immediate resettlement of victims.
While calling for increased policing of local communities, He also distributed to individual beneficiaries materials such as mattresses, plastic chairs, power generators, mosquito nets and toiletries not excluding food items.
He concluded by admonishing the people to show restraints in the face of provocation. He appealed and called for an exercise of patience.
He said “Don’t take laws into your hands because two wrongs don’t make a right. I believe things will not be like this forever. Everything that has a beginning must have an end. God is on our side and darkness will never prevail over light. Today, we are mourning but very soon, there will be rejoicing in Kogi State.”
Present during the occasions were former members of the Kogi State cabinet between 2003 – 2011 alongside leaders of various social groups and non governmental organizations.
