Chief Peter Ameh, former Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and Publicity Secretary of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has condemned the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his recent comments on the 2027 election. Wike, while inaugurating a project in the FCT, declared that Senator Ireti Kingibe would not return to the National Assembly in 2027.
Ameh rebuked Wike, reminding him that the FCT is a cosmopolitan and metropolitan center where people vote based on performance, unlike Rivers State where he had his way. He criticized Wike’s governance style, saying it was elementary and self-promotional. Ameh also highlighted Wike’s lack of accountability, citing the poor condition of roads in areas like Nyanya, Karu, Karishi, Kubwa, and Gwagwalada, despite collecting over N1.2 trillion for projects.
Ameh warned Wike that his actions would have consequences and that he cannot intimidate the electorate with disrespectful language. He urged other senators and leaders from the Labour Party to speak out against Wike’s behavior, citing the need for accountability and responsible governance.
In a video , Ameh said, “Wike forgets that others came before him and performed excellently without using derogatory language against elected representatives. FCT is not Rivers State, and people will not be intimidated. He cannot stand on a stage and insult the electorate with disrespectful language. This is not acceptable in a democracy.”
