For criticising elrufai; Kaduna Assembly rejects commissioner nominee over Facebook post

The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Thursday rejected the nomination of Aliyu Jafaru as commissioner over an old Facebook post criticizing Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s education policy.
Mr Jafaru, 42, was nominated for confirmation as Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture by Mr El-Rufai.

With the exception Mr Jafaru, a lecturer at the Department of Geography of Kaduna State University, all the nominees have been screened and confirmed.

During the screening at the today’s plenary, the Speaker, Aminu Shagali, reminded the nominee about his Facebook post in which he criticized the governor’s policies.
“You criticized the same administration about to employ you now in one of your posts on Facebook.
“You said there’s nothing good about the education policy and attacked the governor.

“Notwithstanding that, the governor chose you based on merits. Your CV was chosen among about 10 CVs presented to the governor, do you think it’s honorable to accept this nomination to work for an administration you think is a bad one?”

The nominee’s response however did not convince the House, which unanimously rejected his nomination.
