FLASH: ASUU Salary Payments Commence as FG Acts

In a significant development, the Federal Government has initiated the long-awaited payment of salaries owed to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The announcement was confirmed by Prof. Gbolahan Bolarin, Chairperson of ASUU at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, who declared, “Yes, it is true. Payment has started rolling in.”

After months of uncertainty and negotiation, President Bola Tinubu’s administration took action in October 2023, authorizing the release of four months’ worth of salaries that had been withheld by ASUU. This payment marks a crucial step forward in resolving the ongoing dispute between the government and academic staff members nationwide.
